Key project details

  • Lawn Area: 12,000m2
  • Construction Duration: 4 weeks
  • Project Value: $121,000

Brief

Our latest design and construct project has recently been completed at La Trobe University, Bendigo Campus. Our Irrigation Team were tasked with replacing under-performing sprinklers with a new irrigation system for the soccer oval. Additionally, we were to provide a solution for
the surrounding landscapes to remain lush and green all year round. The total area to be irrigated covered over 12,000 square metres.

Design

The Reliable Plumbing Irrigation Team worked collaboratively with the University to produce comprehensive designs that implemented a
new, sustainable, state-of-the-art irrigation
system which could be constructed within the dedicated timeframe. Our Irrigation Manager, Craig, dedicated his time designing a solution
in line with the difficult ground conditions, and locating exsiting underground services including optic fibre and electricity. Once the design was approved we could plan extensively to ensure the project would be complete in just 4 weeks.

System

The irrigation system we selected is controlled
using next-generation, Wifi-enabled Smart Irrigation Controller from Hunter. It has industry-leading irrigation management capabilities such as predictive watering adjustments based on local weather data past, current and forecasted, flow meter detection and alerts in the event of a broken pipe or irrigation wire. Our irrigation specialists used a service locator to discover and mark out existing services one week prior to the dig. Our team also engaged a local supplier who provided a mole plough for us to install 200 meters of Blue Line Poly, 450mm deep, in less than 2 hours.

Installation

All of the works were planned and managed by
our team. We conducted the project in line with
the University’s OH&S Requirements and the Government’s COVID-19 Regulations, whilst also ensuring minimal disruption to the presentation of the University during construction. Upon completion we arranged a handover with the University, providing As Built Drawings to show the location of wiring and sprinklers for future reference.
